When asked, “When did you first realize you loved fashion?” my mind immediately drifts back to my childhood, to a day at the circus that remains vividly etched in my memory. Among the dazzling performers, there was one who captured my heart—a graceful aerial dancer who transformed into a giant butterfly, her wings fluttering and twirling as she soared across the big top. The beauty and elegance of her performance were nothing short of magical, and in that moment, a spark was lit within me.
As an adult, the enchanting vision of wings has never left me, and recently, I had the perfect opportunity to bring that childhood magic to life once more. For the second time, my Death’s Head Moth design made a stunning appearance at the Labyrinth Masquerade Ball—a fantastical event that celebrates imagination and creativity in the most extraordinary ways. Alongside my two beloved fellow creatures of the night, Shauntel Jarreau as the Queen of the Crows and Thalia Driessen as the Bat Queen, we soared through the ball filled with awe and amazement.
This event is a constant source of inspiration for me, not just because of the ingeniously creative participants but also because of the opulent 1920s hotel that houses it. It’s a place where magic and imagination are nurtured, where playing dress-up is not just encouraged but celebrated as a beautiful form of self-expression. I feel deeply grateful that such spaces exist, where we can all reconnect with that sense of wonder and creativity that first sparked our passions.
For me, fashion is not just about clothing; it’s about creating moments of magic, about transforming dreams into reality. The Labyrinth Masquerade Ball is a perfect reminder of why I fell in love with fashion in the first place—because it allows us to step into a world of imagination, to express ourselves in ways that are as unique and beautiful as the dreams we carry within us.
Inspired,
